Construction of 3000 homes and schools for earthquake victims

The earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25 was devastating, but the aftershocks have continued for over a month. More than 100 resulting aftershocks have been recorded over 4.0 magnitude. The largest, measuring 7.3 struck on May 12 near Chilankha Village which lies in Dolakha District.

Tremors with 5.6 and 6.3 magnitude had epicenters in Sindupalchowk and Ramechhap district, causing more destruction. Many of the homes which were damaged by the first earthquake of 25th April collapsed causing more casualties and more people without homes.

By the end of May, 2015, 90% of homes in the Himalayan region are unfit for living. Families are sleeping on the ground or in their fields outside their damaged homes. Some have parmanent home, but the monsoon season is upon Nepal and tents do not keep the rain off for long.

According to government data, 32 of Nepal’s 78 districts have been an affected, leaving more than 475,000 homes damaged or destroyed, and more than 1.8 million people displaced. But you can help! And we need you.

7 Summits Foundation is planning to construct 3000 earthquake resistant homes and schools for earthquake victims. Women, children and the disabled are our priority.
